Staring into the Sun; one-shot

It was 12 'o clock midnight when I stared into the sky and saw the sun gleaming down on me.

We were laughing.  All around me was a city of concrete that shined like stars.  The sky shone like emeralds through expensive display windows and I could hear the sound of rain in the distance.  The ground had crept away from beneath my feet.  I was floating.  Wind rushed through my ears as an invisible rope yanked my ankles and pulled me into a sparkling abyss.

My eyes were glazed over when your eyes met mine for a half a frozen second before I was pulled further into this dream.  I was pulled through demons with red eyes and witches with yellow ones.  They reached out for me as my invisible force tugged me just of reach.  I breathed a sigh of relief before my angel stopped.  We stared at each other for a moment before she let go of the rope and I plunged into a sea of red wine.

Oxygen crept out of my lungs as I sunk.  I gasped out a cry for mercy.  A beautiful white glow surrounded me for a minute.  I woke up in a castle of white walls and gray faces with fake smiles.  When I tried to breathe I realized I was still drowning.  They watched me cry and collected my tears for shallow pages in books.

My brown eyes met your sorry eyes when I opened my eyes again.  My hand met yours until yours suddenly started to wisp away.  Tell me, if we wanted to escape reality, why did our dream kill you?  Bile built up in my throat as I screamed for answers.  The cold metal met the back of my skull.

When I looked into the sky again, it was finally nightfall.  I laughed alone.
